In The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, six sages (Rauru, Saria, Darunia, Ruto, Impa, and Nabooru) are awakened to combat Ganondorf. They bestow upon Link six elemental Medallions—physical tokens representing their power and bond—which are used to bridge the gap to Ganon's Castle and ultimately seal him away.
